Boulder Highway Boys & Girls Club receives new multi-sport field through donation from The Shaquille O’Neal Foundation and Reebok
$60,000 donation funds new multi-sport field for youth at Boulder Highway Clubhouse.
Las Vegas, NV –Through a partnership with The Shaquille O’Neal Foundation and Reebok, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada has renovated the outdoor area at the Boulder Highway Clubhouse to include a brand new, artificial turf, multi-sport field. Funded by more than $60,000 in donations from The Shaquille O’Neal Foundation and Reebok, the new field will allow for more Healthy Lifestyles programming at the Club, including enhanced play, sports, recreation, and fitness activities.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Through tested, proven, nationally recognized programs that focus on Academic Success, Good Character & Leadership, and Healthy Lifestyles, Clubs help youth develop the skills they need to become happy, healthy, responsible adults.
“Our Healthy Lifestyles programs help kids to engage in positive behaviors, nurture their well-being, and build healthy habits that will strengthen their bodies and minds,” said Andy Bischel, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada. “Having dedicated space for sports and fitness programming allows youth the opportunity to get outside, explore new activities, learn good sportsmanship, and discover passions that can last for a lifetime.”
Water conservation and year-round availability to youth were the main factors in the design of the field. The project included the removal of grass, leveling of the area, and installation of a sub-base and over 6,000 sq. ft. of artificial turf.
